Portfolio II Development Update (Sprint 5)

Hello everyone, It’s brian again, and I’m back to write my progress on the development update for the last sprint, sprint 5. Although we may not be on track due to the additional team members and a little storming phase, we’re still projected to hopefully complete our project before the 31st. Which is also demo-day, Other than that, we’ve recently gone to complete a demo at our school’s open house. Here’s a picture we took during!

Progress with JIRA

The name “JIRA” is actually inherited from the Japanese word “Gojira” which means “Godzilla”. The basic use of this tool is to track issue and bugs related to your software and Mobile apps. We use it for our software development process and throughout for our Agile Methodology.

We have been making great use of JIRA to track our issues, along with bugs that may need be solved, and this helps to bring about the conclusion and even peer-to-peer reviews for a certain task.

Code Progress

Development progress has sort of been halted, as I am still working on a solution to trying to connect up the player model on rails, to be created on the same view as the event model. This gets a little complicated because I can do it multiple ways, with nested resources (eg: /event/:event_id/teams/:team_id/players/new/), but well, after much research… I found that resources and associations are in fact not even associated. We don’t have to declare routes for every association for a model.

Now, I am attempting to create a player (mainly just with a form_for or form_with FormHelper tag)… but with trouble. I will still attempt to resolve and find a workaround, but to no avail so far. I was also advised to take a step back if a bug takes too long to solve, is the solution right in front of me? or is it just me trying to. make things more complex?

Conclusion

To conclude, This week has been a lot of work and clearing up of the technical solution for this project with my team, and we’re still working super hard on it! Aiming to complete this 31 January! Wish my group luck!
